Dyslexia testing that explains what's really going on

Dyslexia testing for children and teens in Denver. Pinpoint what is making reading, spelling, and writing so hard, and get a clear plan to help your child move forward. Available in English and Spanish.

Homework has become a battle. Reading out loud brings tears. You know your child is smart, so why is this one thing so hard?

Dyslexia has nothing to do with how intelligent your child is. It is a difference in how the brain processes written language, and it can make reading, spelling, and writing genuinely exhausting.

Left unnamed, that struggle rarely stays just about reading. It chips away at confidence. A bright, capable kid starts to believe they are not smart. Frustration grows at the kitchen table, and school gets heavier every year.

The good news is that early answers change everything. A dyslexia evaluation identifies exactly where reading is breaking down, rules out other causes, and gives you a clear, research-based plan. With the right support in place, children with dyslexia thrive.

Are you noticing any of these?

  • Reading, spelling, or writing that feels far harder than it should

  • Bright and verbal, yet stuck when it comes to the printed page

  • Skipping, guessing, or reversing letters and words

  • Avoiding reading out loud, or melting down over homework

  • Falling behind classmates in reading, despite real effort

What dyslexia testing gives you

A clear answer

Whether your child has dyslexia and how significantly it affects them, based on assessment of the skills reading depends on, including phonological awareness, decoding, reading comprehension, and working memory.

The whole child

Co-occurring pieces like ADHD or anxiety are caught, not missed.

School ready documentation

What you need to request accommodations, an IEP, or a 504 Plan.

A path forward

Specific, research-based recommendations for intervention and support at home and at school.

A calmer experience

A supportive testing experience that leaves your child feeling capable, not labeled.

Room to expand

Dyslexia testing can also include additional testing for ADHD or other learning disabilities and giftedness.

About

Testing that honors your language and culture

For bilingual children, reading struggles are often misread. Is it dyslexia, or is a child simply still building English? Getting that answer wrong can mean years of the wrong support. Distinguishing a language difference from a true learning disorder is a core area of Dr. Pazos's expertise. Every evaluation is conducted and interpreted with careful attention to your child's language, culture, and background, in English or Spanish, so the results are accurate and fair.

Why families choose a private evaluation

Many parents are told a school cannot diagnose dyslexia. A private evaluation can give you a clear, formal answer, on your timeline rather than a waiting list. You get a more comprehensive picture, a portable report you own and can use anywhere, and specific recommendations you can act on right away. When you want to know exactly what is happening and how to help, private testing is the most direct path.

Making care accessible

Clear conversations about fees help you plan with confidence. New Horizons offers private pay options and financing through CareCredit, so you understand the investment up front. Some insurances will also cover Dyslexia testing. Check with your insurance. We accept AETNA and DH plans. Medicaid does not cover Dyslexia testing.
