Evaluations

There are many reasons to seek out an evaluation for your child. Here are some types of evaluations that may fit specific struggles your child is having. However, every child is unique and if you have questions about your child's development or learning abilities, an evaluation can help you find your child's strengths and ways to support them with their growth. Contact us for an individualized evaluation to fit your needs.

Neurodevelopmental Evaluations

You may notice your child struggling to meet developmental milestones on time, difficulties in communication and social interactions or repetitive behaviors and a high fondness for special interests. Your child may also experience challenges with motor skills, hyperactivity, inattention, and difficulties with transitions or changes in routine. These concerns may suggest the need for a neurodevelopmental evaluation to better understand your child's unique needs.

Twice Exceptional Evaluations

You may observe your child excelling in certain areas while simultaneously struggling in others, leading to frustration and underachievement. Your child might demonstrate advanced intellectual abilities or talents alongside learning disabilities or emotional and behavioral challenges. You likely are noticing discrepancies between your child's potential and their performance. A twice exceptional evaluation can help identify and support both the strengths and challenges of your child.

Cognitive/Adaptive Evaluations

You might notice your child has difficulties with problem-solving, memory, or other cognitive tasks that impact their daily functioning. Additionally, challenges in adaptive skills such as self-care, social skills, and practical life skills may be evident to you. These issues can affect your child's ability to function independently at home, at school, or in the community. A cognitive/adaptive evaluation can provide insights into your child's abilities, guiding appropriate interventions and support.

Therapy Services

You may notice various signs suggesting your child could benefit from individual therapy. These include significant mood or behavior changes, withdrawal from family and friends, and struggles in school or social settings. Other indicators are unexplained physical symptoms, changes in sleep or appetite, self-destructive behaviors, difficulty managing emotions, experiences of trauma, and expressions of low self-esteem.

Parent training therapy can be beneficial for managing behavioral challenges, resolving parent-child conflicts, and improving parenting strategies. Signs that parents might consider this type of therapy include their child's persistent behavioral issues, frequent conflicts in the home, and uncertainty about effective discipline techniques. Other indicators are emotional dysregulation in the child, developmental concerns, the need for consistent parenting practices, high family stress, communication difficulties, and the need for support when raising a child with special needs.
